403(b)wise Turns One: Happy Birthday to Us; Thank You To You

Just over a year ago, with the flick of a key, 403(b)wise was launched. We distinctly remember starring into the glowing screen wondering, "Good, God, what have we done?" A year later, it's pretty clear: With the help of many, many dedicated souls, the 403(b)wise community, along with other 403(b) advocacy groups, has helped shed light on the mess that is the 403(b). While far too many 403(b)-eligible participants are saddled with high-fee, low-performing investment choices (or worse, aren't even participating), the times, as Bob Dylan so accurately pointed out, are a changing.

While we blow out the candle on year one we want to thank the legion of visitors who frequent our site. Simply put: 403(b)wise would not be the site it is without your input and support. Thank you for posting to our message board. Thank you for purchasing products through our amazon.com link, and thank you for your emails of encouragement. Additionally, we would like to thank the following 403(b) warriors individually:

Steve Shullo - Long before 403(b)wise arrived on the scene, Steve was a lone voice crying out in the cold, dark 403(b) woods. Thank you for promoting our site, Steve, and thank you for your tireless work on behalf of all 403(b) participants.

Ted Leber - Ted, who doesn't even contribute to a 403(b), culls the corners of the world for 403(b) stories.

Vincent D. Tate - Through his terrific GetWise column, Vincent is providing invaluable financial education to us all.

A big part of 403(b)wise is our Discussion Board. Your questions and spirited-give-and-take has made us all much wiser. We want to thank in particular Lucy D., Michael Devault, Joel L. Frank, Bill Mahoney and Gary Turbak for their well thought out contributions and answers to scores of investment questions. Thank you for your participation.

While 403(b)wise has gotten some nice mentions in major news organizations (The Dallas Morning News, Morningstar, Money, Motley Fool, US News & World Report to name a few) the greatest compliment of all came from the annuity representative who called 403(b)wise "full of crap." For that was the moment we knew we had hit the mark.
