Pimp My 403(b)

One of our favorite TV shows is MTV's Pimp My Ride. We like it because it's entertaining and because we think the show has real application to the 403(b). What do we mean?

On Pimp My Ride, host and star-rapper Xzibit, transforms beater jalopies into coupes de cool with the help of West Coast Customs. It's hysterical to watch a junked out Cadillac turned into a cherry chassis. It's also touching to watch the reaction of the car's owner as a source of embarrassment is turned into a thing of pride. This got us to thinking...

We get scores of emails from teachers and non-profit workers decrying their lack of quality investments choices. Wouldn't it be great if we could pimp their 403(b)s? We can picture the first episode now...

Camera follows a 35-year-old teacher who invests in a high-fee product sporting a 10-year surrender charge. She knows she needs to be invested with a better vendor but her employer doesn't offer quality choices. Her doorbell rings and Xzibit's at the door holding her 403(b) statement.

"This is way sorry," he cackles.

The teacher blushes with embarrassment.

"That's alright," declares Xzibit, "It's your lucky day because we are going to Pimp Your 403(b)!"

She jumps for joy as Xzibit drives off to our offices. At this point in MTV's Pimp My Ride the following lyrics put to music play:
So you wanna be a player, but your ride ain't fine.
You gotta hit us up to get a pimped out ride!

For Pimp My 403(b) the following lyrics would be put to song:
So you wanna be an investor, but your plan just sucks
You gotta hit us up, if you want to make some 403(b) bucks!

A crack team of investment professionals would analyze the teacher's needs and craft a wise 403(b) plan that is both affordable and of quality.

The show closes as the teacher, surrounded by friends and family, cries with joy as she glimpses her new plan. "Girl, you are going to retire in style," comments one friend.

We can dream can't we?
